Description
Eucalyptus Honey comes from the province of Sidi Yahya El Gharb in the region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, Morocco. This very popular type of honey is amber-colored and typically presents dark and greenish tones. It is considered a mono-flower honey: one that is produced by bees pollinating a single flower (in this case, the eucalyptus flowers).
Eucalyptus honey has an unusual, unmistakable damp wood aroma, very intense and very persistent, probably the most persistent of all the honeys. It is characterized by a sweet taste with slightly acidic undertones and quite often, salty undertones.
Particularly beneficial for the respiratory system, its other numerous therapeutic and medicinal properties have positioned it as the favorite honey type for many :
- Flu-like states: It calms coughs, treats colds and relieves sore throats.
- Medicinal virtues: It acts effectively against urinary cystitis.
- Antiseptic: It is an antiseptic of the respiratory and intestinal tracts.
Honey crystallization, temperature and liquefaction :
After packaging honey can crystallize, it is a natural phenomenon which guarantees its quality. It is preferable to store it either at more than 20 ° C or less than 10 °, hence the advantage of placing it in the refrigerator.
It is possible to liquefy a honey that has crystallized, by putting it for a few minutes in a double boiler and stirring constantly, but be careful! If you want to keep all the qualities of honey, you must not exceed 40 ° C. These virtues are given for information, they will never replace a medical consultation.
